Shepherding Humanity

Chapter 112: Let’s Begin.

Xu Zhi was a little surprised when he saw this. “They made a bag of holding?”

Spiritual magic had always been prevalent in the Magic World, and was considered the most basic magic. After all, their magic was built on the genes of the Evil Eye, which granted spiritual power. There was a famous phrase from the era of the Three Witches which said:

“Magic lets your spirit change properties from fire into earth, from electricity into the sun and moon, and from the ocean into flames. By this principle, the one gives rise to the many.”

Could focused spiritual power affect time and space?

In the Magic World’s Academies and Sects, this has always been a popular research topic, and considered an esoteric philosophical problem that was very difficult to solve.

Charlotte's signature “Mental Space” magic, when combined with the Rubik’s Cube, and the magic of the sealed ancient mages, has given birth to a miracle.

Mental Space has been turned into Physical Space.

As a matter of fact, space folding technology and subspace technology had been perfected by the previous Tyranis Queen who focused on science and technology.

But for Xu Zhi, this technology was still in its embryonic stage.

His was a fantasy world populated with demigods, and perhaps even gods in the future.

Ant-sized gods were still gods!

Like the mythical gods of Earth, the myriad gods of the Magic World would be true creatures of fantasy and wield unimaginable power.

“Pandora’s Box’s spatial magic will not become widely spread. Most likely, the rubik’s cube will only be used as general-purpose bio-metal because they’ll need to train in magic before they’ll be able to open their subspace.” The Hive Mind spoke up with its mechanical voice.

Xu Zhi nodded.

In other words, it was not so easy for other people to gain a spatial magic tool.

Aside from Pandora, who was sentient and could train on her own, if other people wanted a magic box with its own subspace, they’d have to take control of a mindless rubik’s cube, carve the same magic pattern on it, and then train in its stead.

This was similar to how Xu Zhi had intended to take control of one of his seventeen thousand magical Lego Blocks and train it in magic.

They’d have to devote half of their training time to the magic box.

This difficult and time-consuming process was something that could only be done by a huge Magic Academy or Magic Sect, which had many Mages who were willing to train day and night to see the project to completion.

Furthermore, a Level One Magic Box could only hold a single grain of sand, a Level Two Magic Box could only hold a bowl, and Level Three Magic Box only had a subspace of one square meter, which made them very limited in use.

Things weren’t so bad at the latter stages, as the power of Mages drastically improved with each Level gained.

A Fourth-Level Magic Box had a subspace of five square meters, which was somewhat useful.

A Fifth-Level Magic Box had a subspace of thirty square meters.

A Sixth-Level Legendary Magic Box had a subspace of two hundred square meters.

And a Seventh-Level Epic Magic Box had a subspace of two thousand square meters.

“While the prospects are great, Pandora is only a Level Three Witch after eight years, with a subspace of one square meter, enough to hold half a human body. In the real world, she’d only be able to hold half of an ant.” After thinking for a moment, Xu Zhi concluded that the magic box was simply too weak in the beginning.

Nevertheless, he was still quite satisfied with the current situation.

The Magic World had become a much more colorful place with the addition of the Evil God Cthulhu, The Abomination, The Grand Cemetery, the Demonic Beasts, the Church of Light, and the Bag of Holding. It was now a complete fantasy world whose civilization would reach its peak in the next two hundred years! ȐἁƝóBĘꞩ

Even true Gods—Eight-Level Mythical Life-Forms—might appear.

“Now that this world has reached maturity, it’s time to begin.”

Xu Zhi was quite moved. He could barely remember the previously desolate land with its extremely primitive civilization and ecology. It felt like an entirely different world.

These achievements had been built on endless corpses and the passage of countless eras. He, the Creator, stood at the summit of eons, atop the remnants of many generations, seeking for a way to save himself.

He saw the heroes of each era standing before him: Gilgamesh, the Three Witches, the Emperor of Alchemy…

“Mankind’s epic saga is a saga of passion and courage!”

“Death! Will never make us bend! Death! Will never break us!”

“Mages are eternal seekers of truth! With enough knowledge, I can move the entire world!”

Amidst rage, joy, resentment and grief.

Heroes came and went.

Time marched ever onwards.

The ancient historical records, “The Book of Genesis” and “The Spear of Witchcraft”, could not cover everything, but as an impartial observer, Xu Zhi had borne witness to the entirety of the Magic World’s history.

“They couldn’t possibly know that they’re just tiny people living in an orchard right? Just specimens in a glass jar.”

Xu Zhi had a complicated expression on his face. “And their Creator’s nothing more than a poor and desperate cancer patient who had fled with his luggage back to his old home.”

Xu Zhi wasn’t self-righteous or arrogant.

He clearly recognized the fact that he was weak.

“It’s time to take that all-important step. I’ll cure myself and get rid of the sword hanging over my head.”

Now that he has reached this point, Xu Zhi could not help but wistfully look back on the previous eras.

He slowly regathered his composure while doing housework. After drying his clothes, he stood up with the bucket and headed for the gate.

“The fight against the Evil God will inevitably push the Magic World’s civilization to its peak! Meanwhile, those 7 conspirators, the Evil Gods invading from another dimension, will attempt to unify the world.

The Evil God will completely revive and usher in the apocalypse.

I don't know that kind of devastation it will cause, or how many people will die. I don’t know if rebirth will come after destruction, or if the people will be able to recover from this catastrophe… But in my current condition, my body won’t be able to accept the energy feedback of a fourth extinction event.”

Xu Zhi could not help but feel an extreme sense of urgency. “I absolutely have to get my cancer cured before everything goes down!”

The seeds he sowed have bloomed beautifully, and it was time to take care of his problem.

Xu Zhi received his express package the noon of the following day.

The delivery guy was very friendly and Xu Zhi gave him a five star rating.

Within the package’s foam wrappings was a chunk of dry ice, its cold air creating a faint white mist.

“It’s kinda shaped like a sword. That’s good enough.” Using his tools, Xu Zhi carved the dry ice into his desired size and shape. “This should be able to pass as the Sword of Damocles.”

Saying so, Xu Zhi used a knife to cut open his finger and dripped his blood on the holy sword of dry ice. “Since my cancer is in its final stages, there should be cancer cells in my blood.”

According to historical records, Gilgamesh once cut open the Creator’s finger, staining the Sword of Damocles with the legendary “Blood of Immortality.”

During the Great Flood, Xu Zhi had discretely removed it from the sandbox, which was why countless generations of Babylonians couldn’t find the Sword of Damocles no matter how hard they tried.

He had considered introducing cancer cells by staining the original Sword of Damocles with his blood and placing it in the large sandbox.

But, compared to the current Magic Civilization, that alloy metal sword had fallen behind the times.

“Wouldn’t it be laughable if any Epic Mage could shatter the holy sword bestowed by God?” Xu Zhi thought.

“Although Gilgamesh had reached the Epic Level in pure strength, he treasured the Sword of Damocles and never thought of breaking it. But mages are rebellious seekers of truth, and even the Emperor of Alchemy caused trouble, I must be on guard… Which is why dry ice is the best choice. The alloy sword is too much of a risk.”

People would find that the sword granted by god had turned into icy mist, instantly dissipating the moment they opened the coffin. And all that would be left behind was the crimson “Blood of Immortality”. This was the ideal method.

“I’ll also need to make a fake tomb.” Xu Zhi thought. “I don’t have Gilgamesh’s body, but I can use burial clothes instead. And then I’ll place that ‘Sword of Damocles’ stained with my immortal blood in the tomb.”

Xu Zhi silently got everything in order.

“Empress Ermin who has mastered the pulse of life, Empire Medusa who commands life and death, what will you make of my cancer cells, I wonder? Will you be able to save me? I’m anxiously waiting.”
