Chapter 2056: Qi Is Dumbfounded
It was understandable why Tang Fanghua would risk alienating her husband and wife, upsetting Qi, and even exchanging her life for Lvying’s.
In that dire circumstance, had she not protected Lvying, Lvying likely would have revealed the truth to save herself, right?
But looking back, it was all a stroke of luck.
Qiao Xuan seethed with anger, her initial intent to punish Lvying thwarted by Tang Fanghua’s defense. She had purposely made the threat, never anticipating it would escalate to this extent…
With a glimmer of hope, Qiao Xuan turned to Lvying, asking if she knew who had saved Qi.
Lvying shook her head, indicating her ignorance.
Understandable. How could they possibly know?
Qiao Xuan abandoned further contemplation. The distance between them was too vast. She would leave it to Qi to decide whether to pursue the matter.
As for the likelihood of uncovering anything, only time would tell…
Arranging for Lvying’s confinement, Qiao Xuan relayed the situation to Shao Yunduan and Qi upon returning home.
Shao Yunduan grasped the situation immediately. He harbored doubts about Tang Fanghua’s character. How could she have been the one to save Qi?
Shao Yunduan couldn’t shake off his disgust at the thought of such a person being Qi’s supposed savior.
Qi was left dumbfounded!
His mind reeled at Qiao Xuan’s revelation, as if the very fabric of his world had been torn asunder.
Had he been repaying the wrong favor all along?
And what about his previous conflict with Tang Fanghua?
How dare she deceive him!
Observing Qi’s bewildered expression, Shao Yunduan, who had intended to speak with him, held his tongue.
Despite his frustration, he couldn’t bring himself to add to his brother’s distress.
After a long silence, Qi finally regained his composure and turned to Qiao Xuan. “Fifth Sister-in-law, thank you. If you hadn’t uncovered this, I might have remained oblivious for a long time…”
He realized he might never uncover the truth in this lifetime.
After all, who would suspect that their supposed savior wasn’t what they seemed?
Qiao Xuan offered a comforting smile. “What’s false can never become true. Even if you don’t know it now, the truth will reveal itself eventually. Try not to dwell on it too much.”
Qi nodded, though his thoughts still weighed heavily on him.
How could he not dwell on it? He couldn’t shake off his despondency…
Shao Yunduan said, “What are you going to do? Since you know the truth, you can’t let her lie to you.”
“Of course I want to expose her!” Qi exclaimed, his agitation palpable.
“How do you plan to do it?” Qiao Xuan inquired.
Qi’s resolve wavered, his brow furrowing. “I’m afraid she won’t confess…”
He realized he lacked evidence to prove her guilt. Lvying, a mere maid, couldn’t offer substantial proof. Even though he trusted Lvying wouldn’t lie under such circumstances, Tang Fanghua could still deny everything or shift blame, leaving him powerless.
Qiao Xuan offered a reassuring smile. “If it’s a fabrication, there will always be inconsistencies. You can try to catch her in a trap.”
“A trap?” Qi echoed.
“Exactly. Since she wasn’t truly your savior, she wouldn’t know the specifics of what happened to you. Even if she tries to explain later, she won’t withstand detailed scrutiny. If you set a trap, she might stumble in her explanations.”
Shao Yunduan chimed in, “Your Sister-in-law has laid it out clearly. The rest is up to you!”
