Chapter 2057: Tang Fanghua’s Joy
Qi glanced at his brother and sister-in-law, nodding firmly. “You’re right, Fifth Brother. I’ll handle this myself. I’ll go find her now.”
“Let’s accompany you,” Shao Yunduan suggested. “We can also bring Miss Yuan Mi and General Qin along.”
The more people involved, the better. Tang Fanghua’s audacity warranted no privacy.
Upon hearing Qi’s invitation, Tang Fanghua felt a surge of elation. Lvmei chimed in, playing up Shao Yunduan’s supposed guilt. “I knew it. General Shao has a kind heart. After all, you saved him. Surely he regrets his earlier treatment of you. His invitation is a sign of his regard for relationships. It’s not a bad thing…”
Tang Fanghua beamed with satisfaction, feigning humility. “I seek only a clear conscience. General Shao is truly compassionate. He will come to understand me in time…”
“You’re absolutely right!”
Master and servant conveniently overlooked the fact that Tang Fanghua wasn’t Qi’s savior at all.
Tang Fanghua had meticulously adorned herself for the occasion. Her bean-green embroidered powder and apricot hydrangea dress boasted narrow sleeves, exuding freshness and elegance. A simple bun adorned with jade hairpins and a chrysanthemum branch, inlaid with pearls, added to her refined appearance, evoking a hint of sympathy.
Yet, upon arriving at the parlor where Qi had summoned her, Tang Fanghua and her servant felt a pang of unease upon seeing Qiao Xuan, Shao Yunduan, Yuan Mi, and Qin Yuanshan.
Had she misunderstood something…?
Lvmei, however, wasn’t disappointed. It seemed General Shao hadn’t specifically invited her Miss to speak. Instead, there were all these irrelevant people present.
Tang Fanghua greeted Qiao Xuan and Shao Yunduan with a smile before turning to Qi and the others. “Qi, it’s quite lively here!”
Yuan Mi and Qin Yuanshan, privy to the truth, regarded Tang Fanghua with disdain.
Yuan Mi, in particular, couldn’t hide her disgust. With a sneer, she remarked, “Indeed, lively indeed! And it’s about to get even livelier for you!”
Tang Fanghua, accustomed to such treatment, adopted a façade of aggrieved patience. “Sister Yuan, what do you mean?”
Yuan Mi sneered back. “Don’t call me sister. I fear it might shorten my lifespan! You’ll soon understand why.”
Turning to Qi, Tang Fanghua met his gaze with a smile. “Qi, I was told you wanted to see me. How can I assist you?”
Qi cut straight to the point. “Miss Tang, I was poisoned and fell unconscious. You claimed to have saved me. Is that true?”
Tang Fanghua and her servant’s expressions shifted dramatically.
“Qi, what do you mean?” Tang Fanghua stammered.
“I’m asking if you truly saved me,” Qi repeated, his tone sharp.
“Why would you doubt me?” Tang Fanghua’s voice trembled as she struggled to maintain composure.
Qi’s sneer deepened. “You don’t need to deceive me. The details of this incident can’t be verified. You claimed your parents left behind a life-saving pill for you, but you’ve disposed of it entirely. With your parents deceased, there’s only one pill remaining. I used it, and it’s now depleted. You don’t even know the origin of the pill! It’s a foolproof scheme!”
Tears welled in Tang Fanghua’s eyes. “It’s the truth! If you refuse to acknowledge this act of saving you, then I’ll leave! Why subject me to this humiliation?”
