TALENT AWAKENING: DRACONIC OVERLORD OF THE APOCALYPSE
Chapter 401 401: The Weight of a Name [Bonus Chapter]Mar’Garet, with a playful smirk, clasped her hands above her bust, her cheeks blushing as she chuckled softly and spoke, “I am my love’s darling, Mar’Garet Von Abyss-Void.”
Galisk placed his hand thoughtfully under his chin, glancing toward Alister with a mischievous look in his eyes and a raised eyebrow.
“Is that so?” he smiled afterward.
Cinder glanced at Mar’Garet, noticing the smug expression on her face, as if challenging her. She simply smiled and then stepped forward.
Placing her right hand above her chest, she used her left hand to tuck her hair behind her ear, bowing her head slightly before she spoke.
“And I am Cinder Von Hazenworth.”
Her words made Galisk’s eyes widen for a moment. Time seemed to slow as he recalled a memory—a time when his wife had said something similar.
…
It was a star-filled night. She reached out her hand as she spoke:
“My name is Aleo’Reia Von Vaen Solaren… And starting today, I am yours, and you are mine. Don’t you dare forget it.”
…
Galisk smiled, his thoughts racing. ‘Smoothest lines I’ve ever heard… even to this day.’
Cinder paused briefly, then said, “But since my lord introduced himself with your surname, I will do the same.”
With a graceful nod, she spoke again, “I am Cinder Vaen Solaren. It is nice to meet you, Sir Galisk.”
She then looked up at Alister with a cute smile, as if seeking his approval. She tilted her head slightly, which made Alister smile as well.
Galisk then turned his gaze to the assembled group. “So, let me get this straight… my son has a wife and a concubine?” he said playfully, yet with a touch of pride.
“Oh wow, when should I be expecting grandkids?”
At that moment, Yuuto, who had been quiet until now, let out a long sigh and muttered, “Oh, shut up.”
Galisk burst into laughter—a rich, hearty sound that made Yuuto’s eyes widen in shock for a moment. This was the first time in two decades that Galisk had laughed so hard.
Although he would never say it out loud, a part of Yuuto was a bit happy to see the man express himself again. After his lady’s death, Galisk had gone coldly calm, which had infuriated Yuuto at the time.
Galisk’s grin remained wide as he wiped an imaginary tear from the corner of his eye.
“Well, I suppose you’ve certainly outdone me, Alister,” Galisk chuckled, folding his arms across his chest.
“I was barely keeping up with your mother’s pride and temper, honestly. She threatened to eradicate humanity so many times over the smallest of things. Honestly, I’ve been protecting humanity for far longer than before I even became the Union President. She alone was a lot, let alone managing two fierce dragon ladies.”
“You have my respect, son. It seems you’ve trained your concubines well.”
Alister rolled his eyes slightly, though the faint curve of a smile appeared at the corner of his lips. “They’re not concubines, and this isn’t some ancient empire, old man.” His voice was dry, but there was a touch of warmth in the words.
Mar’Garet, unbothered by the implication, leaned slightly toward Alister with a mischievous gleam in her crimson eyes.
“But if my lord does desire such arrangements, I wouldn’t mind being labeled as such… After all, my body and soul have always been yours to do as you please with,” she giggled softly.
Cinder shot her a flat look, her smile vanishing, her eyes narrowing just a fraction.
“Don’t embarrass him further, Mar’Garet,” she said smoothly, flipping her silver hair over her shoulder.
“Such actions trample upon his fearsome reputation.”
Galisk snorted. “Fearsome? He looks more embarrassed than a teenager caught sneaking out after curfew.”
Yuuto groaned audibly, rubbing his temples. “If I knew this was how things would play out, I wouldn’t have bothered coming here today. A family reunion turning into… whatever this is.”
Ignoring Yuuto’s complaints, Galisk stepped closer to Alister, his teasing smile softening into something more genuine.
He gazed at his son’s face for a long moment, his sharp golden eyes reflecting traces of both regret and pride.
“You’ve grown into a fine young man,” Galisk said softly. “I missed out on all of it… but I see traces of your mother in you. The same stubbornness, the same fire, my level-headedness, and charming demeanor.”
Alister smiled softly, emotions flickering behind his usually composed expression. He didn’t respond immediately, his gaze dropping to the ground before shifting back to meet Galisk’s.
“Her stubbornness kept us alive,” Alister replied simply, his voice low. “And my fire isn’t something I was born with. I had to forge it.”
Galisk’s smile faltered just a bit, but he nodded solemnly. “I’m certain you did.”
…
In the distance, hidden just enough to avoid drawing attention but close enough to catch some words, Ren, Hiroshi, and Razorgrin exchanged shocked looks with each other.
Ren’s brows furrowed slightly as he pieced together what they had managed to hear.
“Wait… Alister is the Union President’s son?”
Razorgrin narrowed his eye.
“No wonder he walks around like he owns the place… Must be genetic,” he muttered.
Hiroshi rubbed the back of his neck, his mind racing as he turned to face Razorgrin and Ren. With exaggerated panic, he dramatically gasped, “So… should we be referring to him as Young Master from now on?” He placed a hand over his heart, feigning formality.
“Young Master Alister, would you like me to shine your boots? Perhaps carry your bags?”
Razorgrin snorted, shaking his head, deciding to play along with Hiroshi. “Yeah, and maybe I’ll even kneel next time he walks by. Better yet, I’ll polish his dragons’ claws too.” He rolled his eye, speaking sarcastically.
Ren chuckled, nudging Razorgrin with his elbow. “Careful what you wish for, Razorgrin. You might end up as the official ‘Claw Polisher of the Union President’s Heir.’ Sounds so prestigious.”
Razorgrin grunted, “Yeah, right.”
He stole one last glance toward Alister, sighed, then spoke again.
“Jokes aside, no one will be able to talk to him the way they used to.”
Ren nodded, the grin fading slightly but not disappearing completely. “Yeah… makes you wonder what other secrets he’s hiding.”
