The atmosphere in the car was eerily silent. Leena attempted to ease the stoic mood of Devin's by cracking jokes with Nick, but like a graven image, Devin was sitting there unaffected. Once the car pulled into the entrance of Leena's office, without stepping out, Leena tugged the hem of Devin's shirt.
''Get inside. We will talk in the evening.'' Kissing her forehead, Devin extended his hand to open the car door of her side.
Still, unmoving, Leena bit her bottom lip waiting for Devin to speak something. His distant voice earlier sounded a little harsh to her ears.
''I am not angry at you, sweetheart.'' Devin pulled her into his embrace and petted her hair. ''Don't overthink.'' He was not mad at Leena, but mood off for no reason like his happiness has no reason sometimes.
''Then why did you sit like a graven statue earlier?''
''Ah! My sweetheart is comparing a heavenly model with the great Wang Devin?'' Ignoring Leena's rantings, Devin chuckled lifting her chin and spread butterfly kisses around her forehead. Nobody can change his mood in seconds, except Leena.
''You are turning into a narcissist.'' Giggling herself into a fresh bout, Leena sighed internally seeing Devin back to his cheerful persona.
''Not in my hands. Leenavirus spread faster.'' Devin teased, earning a sharp punch on his chest.
''You are a big fat bullier. I am leaving now.'' Before Leena stepped out of the car, Devin pulled her into his lap. ''Did you forget my goodbye kiss?''
Leena peeked at the front seat nervously and was well pleased with Nick's behavior. Unlike Andrew and Reese, he respects privacy and steps out as soon as Devin and Leena are alone, and gives them space.
Instead of a peck, Leena started with a slow kiss, further deepening, and when Devin's groans turned more profound, she pulled back with a pant. ''This is enough. I am going in now.'' Not before Devin came out of Leena's ardent caress, Leena was out of the car.
''What the!'' Devin looked over his protruding bulge and then at Leena over the car window. ''She has done it purposefully.'' He muttered a string of curses.
As Leena stepped out of the car, she saw Nick a little distance away from her.
''Even during daylight, you are draining your poor husband?'' Nick questioned as he walked towards Leena.
''Unlike you, I opened only one account.'' Leena burst into laughter, as she remembered swimmer Jessy J's weird family habit.
Clenching his fists, Nick raised his hand to knock her head but backed off when someone's brooding eyes were boring into his soul despite the distance. Nick swore to never share any of his secrets with Leena, but he knew his tongue would automatically slip in front of her.
''Aren't you coming inside?'' Leena asked.
''I will come in a while. I have to talk with Devin.''
''Okay.'' Shrugging her shoulders, Leena made herself into the office.
''Okay.'' Nick mimicked copying Leena's actions strolling towards the car. Stepping into the car, Nick settled in the backseat and spoke up. ''How was my performance?'' He asked referring to the imitation which he just pulled on Leena.
''You would be dead meat if she catches you,'' Devin replied pressing his lips when a smile threatened to break up. Nick pulled out Leena's walking style way flawlessly that he wanted to make a video to spice up her anger.
''That's the reason, I pull stunts behind her back.'' Nick cheekily replied. For a while, they talked about cool stuff, until Nick handed his laptop to Devin with a piece of fine information.
''When did you dig his information?'' Devin asked as he looked over the profile of Enger and his bio.
''When he asked for a private talk with Leena, I had nothing to do for the whole time. So, I thought of digging up his information since I knew his name. I called up Kurt and sent Enger's details. Within an hour, he pulled out Enger's entire bio from the database.'' Replied Nick. Nothing is faster than Kurt's database and network in finding any person they needed.
Devin carefully studied Enger's profile and his bio. There was nothing specific about him. Twenty-seven years orphan, self-employed, holding US citizenship by birth. Runs a small-scale business. 'Nothing impressive about him.''
''Yeah! I wonder how Leena made friends with him.'' Nick added. ''She is always in for the extraordinary or crazy stuff.''
Nick's words replayed in Devin's mind. It was the right question at the right time. How did Enger meet Leena? It can be asked when she comes back from the office.
''Get into the office, Nick. We don't need to press into him anymore.'' Leena's long-time wish of meeting her savior is fulfilled. End of his story. Little did Devin know, it has only started now.
Nick stepped out of the car but paused when he suddenly remembered something. "Devin." He called up.
"Yes?"
''You remember the day, you got an anonymous package from the stalker?''
''I do." Half nodding his head, Devin urged him to continue.
''When you decoded the logic, you got a letter C as the result.''
''So?''
''Enger Cassius Lennox,'' Nick revealed. "Is it a coincidence or not?"
For a second, Devin froze. In his frenzy state where he was battling with his memories earlier, and Devin didnot take Enger's name into account. Now that Nick has brought that into the limelight, he is giving a second thought over the man.
''Give a thought over him,'' Nick added.
''I don't know. I can't be sure by assuming his name." Devin continued. "When Francis couldn't locate the stalker with all his resources, I assumed he is quite an influential man. When I smelled a chemical drug in the letters he sent to Leena, I assumed he works in the medical field. When I thought we got a little breakthrough, we are back to square again, and he belongs to a simple background." If Enger was the stalker, why didn't he approach Leena in the past when they were friends during her university days?
''What if he is hiding his identity?'' Nick asked.
"Probably. If he is the stalker, he would definitely make an attempt to meet Leena again. Let's wait and confirm.'' Since doubt is planted in Devin's mind, he can focus on that matter alone. Enger Cassius Lennox! Is it you bastard?
"It's time you shift the house, Devin. Dew Gardens is highly secured, but it's not hard to trespass inside." Nick suggested.
"I will talk with Leena today." He has given a thought of shifting to a new home long back for better security. The time has come. If Enger is the stalker he is searching for, Leena is in grave danger.. After all, Enger has successfully paved into her life today, gaining her trust.
