Chapter 1644: Chapter 1741: Ancient Demon of the 8th Transformation

Amid the perilous and labyrinthine mountain range, Fang Lin fled relentlessly, his steps uninterrupted despite his severe injuries, not daring to pause for even a breath of air.

Although he could no longer sense the presence of the Sealing Sword Pavilion Master behind him, Fang Lin remained apprehensive about being pursued, so he didn’t dare linger anywhere.

Bam!

Fang Lin’s foot landed on a rock wall, only to discover it was exceedingly brittle. His step shattered it entirely, revealing a hidden cave concealed behind the wall.

Fang Lin was about to leap into the cave to briefly rest, but unexpectedly, the cave was already occupied. A giant serpent suddenly lunged out.

Hiss!!!

The serpent exuded a sinister Demon Qi, evidently enraged by Fang Lin’s intrusion. Its gaping maw, lined with razor-sharp teeth, shot toward Fang Lin in a vicious bite.

A nauseating stench assaulted his nose. Fang Lin’s eyes turned cold, and the ancient spear in his hand thrust forward, piercing the serpent’s head and pinning it fiercely to the rock wall.

Yet, even as its head was impaled, the serpent’s massive body fully emerged from the cave, its enormous form slamming heavily into Fang Lin.

Fang Lin let out a muffled groan, his complexion becoming increasingly pale. Inside him, the Ancient Lamp of Flame God unleashed raging flames, which fell upon the serpent’s body.

The flames, being Skyfire, were naturally the bane of most Demon Beasts, and this serpent was no exception.

In an instant, the sound of crackling burning echoed, accompanied by the serpent’s agonized howls. Its body writhed incessantly, but even as Demon Qi emanated from it, it could not extinguish the flames consuming it.

Fang Lin was about to deliver the killing blow when he noticed a nest of pale eggs within the cave, brimming with vitality and Demon Qi, seemingly on the verge of hatching.

For some inexplicable reason, the sight softened Fang Lin’s heart. With a quiet sigh, he dispersed the flames and withdrew the ancient spear from the serpent’s head before departing the area.

The serpent, narrowly escaping death, remained severely injured but managed to cling to life. With the formidable physical resilience of Demon Beasts, it would fully recover within days.

Moreover, the serpent had no further intention of seeking trouble with Fang Lin. It had only attacked out of fury, believing Fang Lin posed a threat to its offspring. Now that Fang Lin had left without harming its eggs, the serpent wished to avoid inviting any more trouble upon itself.

····

Without a word, Fang Lin fled for several hours before finally stopping at the base of a waterfall. He immediately collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath.

The wound on his chest had long since ceased bleeding. Had it continued to bleed throughout his escape, the scent of blood would undoubtedly have attracted more Demon Beasts. Fang Lin certainly did not want to escape the Sealing Sword Pavilion Master only to face an endless onslaught of Demon Beasts.

“What a terrifying sword strike. If not for my True Dragon Indestructible Body, that sword would have surely taken my life,” Fang Lin muttered as he swallowed several pills, a faint sense of lingering fear in his heart.

The Sealing Sword Pavilion Master’s strike had not only pierced Fang Lin’s heart but also sent countless needle-like threads of Sword Qi surging into his body, tearing through his limbs and tormenting him with unbearable pain.

Thankfully, Fang Lin managed to suppress this Sword Qi. Had he allowed it to rampage freely, even with his True Dragon Indestructible Body, he would have faced the danger of total physical collapse.

This encounter with the Sealing Sword Pavilion Master left Fang Lin deeply impressed. This individual’s strength was undoubtedly the greatest Fang Lin had faced to date, even surpassing the woman in the black dress.

And it was no wonder—this person’s mastery of the Sword Tao was astonishingly profound. Even in ancient times, among the many sword-wielding masters Fang Lin had encountered, few could rival him in terms of Sword Tao.

With Fang Lin’s current level of strength, facing the Sealing Sword Pavilion Master head-on was inadequate. Even summoning the True Dragon Avatar would not suffice in a confrontation with him.

Only if Fang Lin’s own cultivation realm elevated further would the True Dragon Avatar, as an extension of himself, grow significantly stronger.

Fang Lin raised his gaze to the sky, noticing storm clouds gathering ominously, as though heavy rain was imminent.

Soon enough, with the rumbling of several thunderclaps, a torrential rainstorm commenced, the droplets as large as fists. For ordinary people, being struck by rain of this magnitude would result in all sorts of aches and bruises.

However, this downpour proved beneficial, washing away the traces of blood and scent Fang Lin had left behind during his escape. It was a welcome reprieve for him.

Fang Lin sat cross-legged at the edge of the water pool, not a single drop of rain touching him, silently focusing on his recovery.

But he did not notice the pair of lantern-sized eyes watching him ominously from within the seemingly clear water of the pool behind him.

The rain lasted for an hour before the skies cleared.

Fang Lin opened his eyes, his face showing signs of recovery, though still pale. Most of the Sword Qi in his body had been refined and neutralized, with only residual traces remaining that posed no real threat to him.

“Hmm?”

Suddenly, Fang Lin leapt to his feet. In that brief instant, he had sensed a fleeting surge of Demon Qi emanating from the pool behind him.

Though the sensation was brief, Fang Lin’s sharp instincts picked up on the overwhelming intensity of the Demon Qi, enough to raise every hair on his body.

Yet when he turned his attention to the pool, it appeared calm and unremarkable, with no sign of anything amiss.

Fang Lin furrowed his brows but chose not to investigate further, instead turning to leave.

BOOM!!!

At that moment, the pool suddenly exploded, and dozens of slimy tendrils shot toward Fang Lin with terrifying speed.

“What in the world is this?” Fang Lin’s body erupted in flames, the surging blaze forming a wave that surged toward the oncoming tendrils.

Sizzle, sizzle, sizzle!

The sound of burning echoed, followed by a deep roar from beneath the pool. Moments later, a colossal entity emerged before Fang Lin’s eyes.

It was a bloated beast, its body covered in thick, slimy tentacles that continuously oozed sticky fluids. Its massive, bulbous eyes stared fixedly at Fang Lin, brimming with voracious greed.

Fang Lin’s expression changed instantly. He didn’t recognize this monstrous beast, but judging by its aura, it appeared to be at the Eight-Change Realm.

An Eight-Change Realm beast was equivalent to a Human Clan Great Longevity Martial Artist, but given the natural advantages of Demon Beasts, such a creature could easily overpower four or five Great Longevity cultivators of the same level.

And this grotesque beast before him was likely far from an ordinary Eight-Change Monster Beast.

“The scent of a dragon? You carry the True Dragon’s aura!” the beast spoke in perfect human tongue, each word eerie and precise.

This wasn’t surprising—Six-Transformation beasts could already speak, and an Eight-Change Monster Beast boasted intelligence surpassing that of most humans.
