Chapter 1645: 1742: Wind Thunder HawkChapter 1645: Chapter 1742: Wind Thunder Hawk
Fang Lin’s face was filled with vigilance. This Ancient Monster of Eight Changes was clearly targeting him, and the reason was obvious—it must be because of the True Dragon aura on his body.
To demon beasts, the aura of a True Dragon was both terrifying and enticing.
After all, the True Dragon stood at the pinnacle of all living beings. Many demon beasts yearned to obtain the flesh and blood of a True Dragon, hoping to gain a fraction of its immense power.
With Fang Lin possessing a True Dragon Avatar, combined with the True Dragon Indestructible Body, it was clear this Ancient Monster wanted to devour him whole.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!!!
Tentacles lashed out one after another. Fang Lin unleashed flames once again, but to his surprise, this time they were ineffective. The tentacles pierced through the fire and surged straight toward him.
Fang Lin’s gaze hardened as he dodged rapidly, yet one tentacle still struck him squarely in the chest. Pain flooded his senses, and he nearly spat out blood.
“This is bad! I didn’t expect this beast to be so strong. Even my True Dragon Indestructible Body can’t withstand its onslaught,” Fang Lin thought inwardly, a surge of unease crawling up his spine. His injuries had barely recovered by seventy to eighty percent—there was no way he could match this Ancient Monster in his current state.
Even at full strength, Fang Lin estimated he wouldn’t be its equal. Perhaps only an Immortal-tier expert could subdue such a creature.
“Human, offer your flesh and blood to me!” The Ancient Monster’s deep, guttural voice echoed, dripping with disdain.
Fang Lin’s expression darkened as he retrieved the ancient spear from his Nine Palace Bag.
The Ancient Monster, intending to sneer at Fang Lin’s actions, suddenly froze. Its gaze locked onto the spear, its expression shifting from contempt to profound fear.
“You… you actually have that thing?” The Ancient Monster’s voice trembled with alarm and disbelief.
Fang Lin paused, surprised at the reaction. Could this ancient spear really be so fearsome that even an Ancient Monster of the Eight-Change Realm would be wary of it?
Then it clicked. The ancient spear was a divine weapon renowned for its might—it had once pinned the Ancient Magic Tree to death. Compared to the Ancient Magic Tree, an Eight-Change Ancient Monster was certainly inferior in strength.
“If you recognize this weapon, do you still dare to challenge me?” Fang Lin said coldly.
The Tentacle Ancient Monster hesitated. While it was indeed wary of the spear in Fang Lin’s hand, the True Dragon aura emanating from his body was simply too enticing to ignore.
“You cannot even wield that thing!” the Tentacle Ancient Monster roared, releasing a nearly transparent mucus-like substance that rained down on Fang Lin like a torrential storm.
Fang Lin darted backward, but some of the mucus splashed onto his clothing. A sizzling sound echoed as his garment corroded, followed by his flesh starting to rot.
Without hesitation, Fang Lin sliced off a piece of his own flesh to halt the spread of the corrosion.
But more mucus rained down from above, leaving him with no way to dodge. Flames erupted around Fang Lin, forming a blazing barrier.
The barrier proved effective.
The flames of the Ancient Lamp of Flame God were Skyfire. Though the monster’s mucus was formidable, it was instantly incinerated upon contact with the flames.
The Ancient Monster was clearly astonished at this turn of events. It hadn’t expected this human warrior to wield not only the legendary spear but also the Skyfire. Such marvels were exceedingly rare.
Both the ancient spear and the Skyfire held immense restraining power over demon beasts. The ancient spear, in particular, had embedded itself into the very DNA of the demon beast lineage as a weapon of absolute terror, with countless Giant Demons of ancient times having fallen to its might.
Even after eons had passed, this primal fear continued to flow within the veins of demon beasts.
For both formidable deterrents to appear on one person at once left the Tentacle Ancient Monster conflicted, unsure whether to continue its attack.
Fang Lin, however, had no intention of giving it more time to decide. Skyfire surged from his body, transforming into three blazing dragons that lunged toward the Tentacle Ancient Monster.
The monster lashed out its tentacles, shattering the fiery dragons. Yet embers from the flames clung to its flesh, incinerating it mercilessly.
To counteract the flames, the Tentacle Ancient Monster swiftly severed its own burning limbs, preventing the Skyfire from spreading further.
In an instant, however, the severed tentacles regenerated completely, leaving the monster unaffected.
Observing this, Fang Lin realized the Tentacle Ancient Monster had no means of dealing with Skyfire. An inward sigh of relief escaped him. If that were the case, his advantage with Skyfire meant this creature likely wouldn’t be able to defeat him.
Yet unexpectedly, the Tentacle Ancient Monster’s massive form leapt out of the water pool, all its tentacles aimed directly at Fang Lin. Each tentacle carried the force to instantly kill a Minor Longevity expert, and even a Major Longevity expert struck by one would suffer critical injuries.
With so many tentacles attacking, even if only three or five struck Fang Lin, it would be enough to leave him gravely wounded.
Fang Lin’s heart raced. His True Dragon Avatar appeared in a flash, letting out an earth-shaking roar as it rammed into the monster’s massive frame.
With a thunderous crash, the Tentacle Ancient Monster was knocked off balance and fell back into the water.
“A True Dragon!!!” The Tentacle Ancient Monster was utterly stunned. It had encountered a living True Dragon—and now even had physical contact with it.
As a demon beast, the shock and excitement coursing through the monster were indescribable. This moment was akin to a human warrior encountering a legendary Martial Lord.
But excitement quickly gave way to fear. A deep-seated terror within its bloodline prevented it from daring to challenge the True Dragon. It instinctively tried to retreat and hide back in the pool.
Fang Lin, however, knew that while his True Dragon Avatar was formidable, it was limited to being a mere deterrent. If it actually had to engage in combat with the Tentacle Ancient Monster, the Avatar alone wouldn’t stand a chance of winning.
The Avatar’s realm matched Fang Lin’s, its real strength lying solely in its enhanced physical might.
With the Tentacle Ancient Monster momentarily cowed by the True Dragon Avatar, Fang Lin sensed a valuable opportunity and prepared to make his escape.
But just then, a magnificent avian demon beast tore through the sky with a sharp and piercing cry.
A bitter smile formed on Fang Lin’s face. Why was there yet another powerful demon beast joining the fray? Could it, too, have been drawn by the aura of the True Dragon?
The avian demon beast was not particularly large, but its potent Demon Qi rivaled that of the Tentacle Ancient Monster. Lightning flickered around its body, and its piercing violet eyes shimmered with intent.
“A Wind Thunder Hawk!” Fang Lin recognized the beast instantly, despair sinking deeper into his heart.
An Eight-Change Wind Thunder Hawk, capable of wielding both wind and lightning, was without question one of the aerial dominators, second only to the likes of the Divine Phoenix or Sky Roc.
Being targeted by the Wind Thunder Hawk would make escape nearly impossible, as its speed far outmatched even the most agile of Longevity experts.
