Chapter 1158: 1157 isn’t it just a sentence I like you

Cohabitation!

An Lin’s mouth twitched violently.

Seeing that Qin Mu seemed to be serious about kicking her out rather than joking, she grew anxious and scrambled for an excuse, “I’ll pay you rent. That way, I’m just a tenant, not someone cohabitating with you, and you can earn some extra money each month.”

Qin Mu let out a cold sneer, mockingly asking, “Do you think I’m lacking that kind of money?”

“Then what will it take for you to let me stay here?”

When playing nice didn’t work, An Lin decided to get tough.

She straightened her back, hands on her hips, and glared at Qin Mu with an angry face, his handsome features like a sculpture, yet as cold as ice.

Qin Mu nonchalantly crossed his leg, fingers slightly curved resting on his knee, looked down, and with a cold gaze said, “I’m giving you three days to find a place and move out, or I will find a place for you to move out to.”

“Where am I supposed to find a house in three days?”

Every cell in An Lin’s body emitted anger.

“Then let me help you find a house.”

Qin Mu was unmoved, truly impervious to both persuasion and coercion.

A couple days ago, he only let her stay because she had encountered a drunk at the hotel, narrowly escaping being taken advantage of. If not for that, he never would have agreed to let her stay at his place.

Though An Lin had been a childhood friend and they had grown up together, she was a girl, and it’s improper for men and women to be too familiar. Besides, his mother had once tried to matchmake him with An Lin.

If his mother, who was eager to see him married and starting a family, found out that An Lin was living at his place, who knows what kind of trouble that would cause.

“I don’t want the house you find for me. Since I’m going to be working in G City, I intend to live here long term. If it were just temporarily staying at someone else’s place, I could compromise, but this is my own home. How could I just settle? I must personally choose a place with a good environment, high safety standards, good ventilation, and sunlight, not too high or too low of a floor.”

Qin Mu looked up, watching An Lin once more, “How long do you plan to search?”

Her criteria were anything but low.

A few years back, he had tried to help An Lin find a house for an entire half month. She didn’t like any of them, and in the end, he simply let her stay in a company apartment while she took her time looking.

An Lin tilted her head, thinking, “How long I search isn’t the point. The important thing is to ensure the place feels comfortable. For the decoration alone, it’ll take at least three months, then airing out the formaldehyde will take at least a year.”

Qin Mu stood up from the sofa, dropping the line, “I’ll leave this apartment to you, I’ll be the one to find a new place,” before he strode into the bedroom.

An Lin turned her head and stared at the bedroom door, feeling depressed. After a moment, Qin Mu emerged from the room with clothes in hand and entered the adjacent bathroom.

Sitting on the sofa, thinking of what Wen Ran had said that morning, about Qin Mu being favored by the bald Commissioner, An Lin bit her lip hard.

Qin Mu had always liked Ranran, which she knew long ago.

Even if Qin Mu got over Wen Ran, he had no romantic feelings for her.

If he found out her secret, he would definitely not let her stay tonight.

What should I do?

An Lin’s brow was knotted, her hands resting on her legs, constantly changing cross positions. Whenever she felt agitated inside, she liked to torture her hands.

Nobody would expect that she, a sharp and decisive strong woman in the business world, would be so scared that she didn’t dare to confess her feelings to the man she liked.

“An Lin, oh An Lin, it’s just a ‘I like you,’ what are you so afraid of saying? When Qin Mu comes out, just tell him directly that you like him. Wouldn’t that prevent you from being kicked out?”

But another voice immediately mocked her, “If you tell him, he’ll definitely kick you out right away. Don’t even dream about becoming his girlfriend; you won’t even remain friends anymore.”

“Actually, being friends, or even best buddies, is quite nice. That way, at least, it can last a lifetime.”

In the end, the timid part of me was once again persuaded.

Bai Family, outside the villa, under the dimly lit tree shade, a black sedan was parked far away.

In the driver’s seat, Luo Haofeng leaned against the back of his seat, hands gripping the steering wheel, his gaze lonely as it passed through the car window, looking at the front gate of the villa.

Time passed, and from a distance, the glaring headlights of another car approached. He subconsciously reached out, lowering the seat back, and his previously upright body reclined in a second.

About a minute later, he sat up again.

His eyes focused on the woman alighting from the car, the one opening the door for her was Meng Ke, the man who liked her, who had said he would wait for her return to the country.

A mature, steady man, extremely polite.

Luo Haofeng’s grip on the steering wheel quietly tightened, his narrow, peach blossom eyes unknowingly took on a layer of desolation.

“Meng Ke, thank you for driving me home.”

Bai Xiaoxiao got out of the car and said to Meng Ke who was in front of her.

“Logically, shouldn’t you be politely inviting me inside to sit for a while?” Meng Ke teased with a laugh.

Bai Xiaoxiao was amused by his words, her laughter was charming and bright, “I don’t like pretense. Knowing you won’t come in, I won’t bother with empty words.”

Meng Ke chuckled, self-mockingly, “It seems I ought to speak with real gravitas, so you’ll think I’m joking.”

Bai Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes, reached up to adjust her purse strap, “Get in the car then, I’m going inside.”

“Alright, I’ll pick you up tomorrow morning.”

Meng Ke nodded, his lips still adorned with a kind smile.

Bai Xiaoxiao lingered no longer, punched in the code, and entered the house.

Suburban Villa

Mo Xiuchen was extremely busy.

Finally getting the three babies to sleep, he took a deep breath and discussed with Wen Ran who was resting in bed, “Ranran, let’s move these little ones to the nursery. Having them here might disturb your rest at night.”

Wen Ran noted the faint sweat on his forehead and teased, “Are you tired of them already?”

“Of course not, I’m genuinely worried that their cries will wake you up if they get fussy at night.”

Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a charming smile as he approached the bed, leaning over to steal a kiss from Wen Ran, the playfulness in his smile growing even richer.

Wen Ran raised her hand instinctively as if to wipe her face, but Mo Xiuchen caught her hand, “Ranran, what are you doing?”

“I haven’t done anything.”

Wen Ran gave a covering laugh, and Mo Xiuchen feigned seriousness as he stared at her, “Don’t wipe your face after I’ve kissed you from now on.”

“I didn’t wipe my face.” Wen Ran laughed as she pulled her hand free from his grasp, but just as Mo Xiuchen was about to speak again, the ringtone of his cellphone sounded.

Taking out his phone, he glanced at the caller ID, and before pressing the answer button, he said indifferently, “It’s Ah Mu calling, wonder what’s up.”

“If Qin Mu is looking for you, there must be something.”

Wen Ran said with a light laugh, “Take it in the study, so you don’t wake the three little ones.”
