Chapter 1759: Chapter 1616: Dissolve the Soul Contract!

The pistil of Yu Suo’s flower rested within Chu Mu’s Space Ring. With concentrated willpower, Chu Mu formed a cluster of Demon Flame, letting the flame inch closer to the flower’s pistil.

This pistil was Yu Suo’s heart. Years ago, she had handed over this sacred core to Chu Mu in a desperate plea for her life, vowing never to endanger him again.

Yet, many years had passed in the blink of an eye. Now, as Chu Mu reignited the Demon Flame to burn the woman before him into ashes, a twinge of resistance stirred within his heart.

Time and shared experiences had changed him. Coupled with her memories flooding into his inner world, Chu Mu’s perspective on Yu Suo had shifted. She was no longer just a proud, callous, and treacherous Soul Pet. His understanding of her actions had widened significantly…

Just as she’d once said, her fate was strikingly similar to Ning Man’er’s. However, unlike Ning Man’er, she had chosen to tread the path of Ultimate Evil under duress and despair.

Chu Mu harbored no true desire to kill Yu Suo anymore. If not for the absurdity of the current situation, he wouldn’t have to resort to burning her heart with Demon Flame.

“What’s wrong? Can’t bring yourself to do it?” Yu Suo asked coldly, her expression devoid of emotion as she stared at Chu Mu.

Chu Mu gazed back at her and asked, “Do you really wish to die that much?”

Yu Suo bit her lip tightly. Why would she want to die? She still had so many unresolved matters; dying was the last thing she wanted.

She even debated whether she should grudgingly accommodate this cruel mockery of primal reproduction and pretend it had never happened afterward.

But the thought of the hateful man before her, of the things he had done to her, made her feel as though she would rather tear apart her own body than endure another moment.

It was unbearable. Completely unacceptable!

“From the moment I fell from the Dark Cliff, I swore never again to yield, never again to let others control my fate. Surrendering my pistil to you was already degrading enough. If I lose this final shred of dignity, I’d rather die!” Yu Suo exclaimed with fierce determination and palpable anger.

“Such chastity,” Chu Mu commented with a nod.

“Burn it now! Aren’t you disgusted by me? Haven’t you always wanted to kill me? Spare me your pity, and keep your hands off of me. My body carries deadly poison—if you dare attempt anything, you’ll die with me!” Yu Suo spat venomously, her rage undisguised.

“Young Master, she’s lying. The Ancestor of Good and Evil is currently in a nurturing state; she doesn’t have poison in her body right now,” came the distant voice of Fox Elder.

Yu Suo’s teeth ground together in fury as she heard the senile old man’s damned tongue wag. Just the sight of his sly grin made her want to turn him into fertilizer for flowers!

Her falsehood exposed, Yu Suo glared fiercely at Chu Mu, only to find him staring at her body with an unreadable expression.

She instinctively folded her arms over her chest, yet her slender fingers couldn’t entirely conceal the creamy expanse of her fullness, a sight tempting enough to set anyone’s throat dry and breath shallow.

The unabashed display before Chu Mu left Yu Suo angrier and more agitated. She grasped at strands of her untransformed hair, attempting to shield herself.

But this vain attempt at modesty only made her allure more enticing. Chu Mu found his thoughts lapsing, his consciousness drifting.

“Burn it already!!” Seeing the flicker of turmoil in Chu Mu’s eyes, Yu Suo was shocked pale.

Chu Mu shook his head briskly, striving to regain clarity.

“If we dissolve the soul contract, can it prevent this entire mess?” Chu Mu asked, his expression serious.

Yu Suo responded, “If we dissolve the soul contract, you must return the pistil to me as well. Otherwise, forcing the dissolution will still kill me.”

“Take it.” Chu Mu handed her the pistil.

Yu Suo paused, stunned, staring at Chu Mu in disbelief.

“You’re giving my pistil back to me?” Yu Suo murmured.

“Yeah, let’s dissolve the soul contract,” Chu Mu confirmed.

“If you return my pistil, then dissolve the soul contract—if I wanted to kill you after, you wouldn’t be able to escape!” Yu Suo stared at Chu Mu, her fear evident.

In Yu Suo’s mind, she’d always assumed that Chu Mu would keep her shackled through the soul contract for eternity, with her pistil held hostage, forever crushing any chance of her liberation.

“Do you think you can defeat me?” Chu Mu retorted plainly.

“Hmph. Once I reach Tenth Rank, you’ll be powerless against me. After receiving Divine Nourishment, even your flames can’t harm me anymore,” Yu Suo scoffed coldly.

Chu Mu frowned deeply. Suddenly, he felt that returning the pistil to Yu Suo and dissolving the soul contract might have been an ill-conceived decision.

If she regained her freedom and sought to take his life, how would he defend against that? There was no telling if her dormant hatred would also extend to the people around him. Though she seemed to coexist peaceably now, who could say what resentments festered within her heart?

This dilemma was giving Chu Mu a headache. Restoring Yu Suo’s freedom would likely spawn a formidable, impossibly dangerous new enemy.

Yet burning her alive in Demon Flame seemed an unforgivably cruel fate.

“You’re not that magnanimous… Are you stalling for time? Let me warn you: even if you gain possession of my body, I’ll do everything in my power to poison you to death. Don’t waste your time fantasizing!” Yu Suo snapped, her humiliation turning to fury.

Chu Mu’s body was constantly being infused with intoxicating floral nectar, and Yu Suo herself was growing uncomfortably feverish, her body ablaze with heat. The more she looked at Chu Mu, the more appealing he seemed. Several times, she felt an unsettling urge to throw herself into his arms, and this terrified her into a cold sweat. As long as she could still think clearly, she vowed never to let this absurd situation consume her.

Watching Chu Mu hesitate, Yu Luo sneered coldly, “This shouldn’t be so difficult to decide. Burn my heart with your flame, and everything will end. If you continue to let this farce progress while fully conscious, it will prove you’ve harbored ulterior motives for me all along. You won’t need a ludicrous opportunity to give in to your desires. One day, you’ll act on them simply because you can, exploiting your control over me. So why pretend to care about restraint when your true nature’s already exposed? You’re far from innocent.”

Chu Mu opened his mouth. Was this woman insane or what?

“Take it. I’ll recite the spell to dissolve the soul contract,” Chu Mu said at last, handing Yu Suo the pistil.

The flower’s pistil lay before her, entrancing in its familiar essence. Yu Suo gazed up at Chu Mu, her suspicions flaring—is this man presenting her with a decoy?

But the rhythmic pulses of the pistil matched her own heartbeat flawlessly. She could feel it; this was undoubtedly part of her.

Slowly, she extended her hand to retrieve it, momentarily forgetting her exposed chest and letting her fingers embrace the long-separated fragment of her being.

“I’ll begin reciting the spell to dissolve the contract now. Our souls will both be injured, but the impacts shouldn’t be severe…” Chu Mu said.
