Chapter 2838 Evolutionary Divergence
Rui had become a Martial Sage.
From the very moment he gained Enlightenment of Self, he had discovered his Martial Soul.
One moment, he was on the very verge of death as the Gu poison consumed his life.
The very next, he had ascended.
He had ascended to a higher Realm of power.
He had gained an otherworldly level of awareness.
He had gained an extraordinary amount of cognition.
All of heaven and earth seemed to bend under the weight of his being while his existence weighed down on the fabric of space and time.
He had gained power.
He had gained the power needed to challenge Death.
Time slowed down to an astronomically slow crawl as he studied the state of his being.
He was consumed by the Gu poison.
It had spread across his entire Body.
It had spread across every system.
Every organ.
Every cell.
He was moments away from death.
And yet, he was decades away from it as well.
The blood-red Suns in his eyes shined with a blinding brightness as an extraordinary intensity occupied their depths.
“My turn.”
It was time to fight back.
The Forge of Creation blazed brighter than it ever had in the past as a universe of cognition within his mind fueled its forge with immense power. His thought surged as he computed billions upon billions of possible techniques in his mind to help him overcome the Gu poison that ate away at his life. He considered countless different approaches, ruling out many one by one.
He couldn’t extract the poison from his body in his current condition. Upon entering the Sage Realm, he understood that the poison was far more powerful than he had ever imagined it.
It had entrenched itself into his system on not just an anatomical, physiological, and biochemical level, but also on a sub-atomic level, going as far to trying to alter the state of matter in his body to try and cripple the very foundation of his metabolism.
It even went as far as to try and alter the electromagnetic permeability and conductivity of his brain matter to stop the flow of electrical impulses that served as the bedrock of his mind and soul.
It was the most deadly poison that Rui had seen in his entire life, and it entrenched itself in the root of his being.
Extracting it all from him within his body on the verge of death was impossible.
“Not to mention, a waste.”
The Gu poison had inspired his greed as he knew it would. With the Enlightenment of Self, he knew himself inside out as a cosmological event.
He was attracted to any and everything that could help with Project Water.
And every instinct in his mind told him that it would allow him to reach an even greater degree of adaptive evolution.
Death could enhance the power of Water.
And thus, he arrived at the solution of his choice.
“I will integrate the Gu into the very foundation of his Body.”
On the verge of death, he had grown infatuated with the poison that was killing him.
He grew greedy for its power.
It was the decision of a madman.
And yet, he didn’t care.
The Forge of Creation roared with power as it gave birth to its very first technique in the Sage Realm.
A single whisper escaped Rui as he saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
“Evolution of Death.”
By using the Gu as a darwinian filtering mechanism, it was possible to subject himself through a Body Evolution process whose sole objective was to produce an organism that could not only survive the Gu poison but also survive with it. It was possible to produce an organism evolved to assimilate the Gu poison into his body and integrate into the very foundations of his material body.
The Gu poison caused mass cell-death in his body, killing an enormous amount of his tissue.
The Transcendent-Grade Fruit of Healing and the Soul Retconned Weaving Blood would patch it up by almost time-skipping his regeneration, allowing the cells that survived to reproduce almost instantaneously.
There was only one problem.
“The Gu poison… is winning the race.”
It was killing his body faster than the combined regenerative power of the Fruit of Healing and the Soul Retconned Weaving Blood could heal him. He would die long before he came even close to integrating the poison into his Body.
The solution was simple.
“Accelerate my regeneration. Accelerate the rate of mutations. Accelerate the rate of adaptive evolution.”
In the blink of an eye, his colossal universe of a mind created several techniques.
“Cancer.”
He gave himself cancer, to start. By deploying the Martial Soul’s extraordinary control over his body, he was able to communicate and control a vast variety of his body’s cells through neurotransmitters, chemical signals, and cytokinesis.
He urged them to divide.
He urged them to reproduce.
He urged them to spread.
He nourished them with energy.
From the very root of his body, extracting every ounce of energy with efficiency.
Absolute efficiency on a physical level.
On a chemical level.
On a thermodynamic level.
And even on a quantum level, as his efficiency was so high that not even the energy within matter itself was wasted. A flood of materia prima spread across the entirety of his body as he hyper-electrified the metabolism of his cells with the energy of matter itself.
His cells began dividing aggressively.
They began reproducing aggressively.
A cancer unlike anything the world had ever seen before.
The cancerous regeneration coupled with the Fruit of Healing and the Soul Retconned Weaving Blood finally allowed him to neutralize the progress of death of the Gu poison.
He had at the very least stopped dying.
Unfortunately, the Fruit of Healing would not last very long.
He needed to fully adaptively evolve before it faded in its entirety. He needed to adaptively evolve before he died.
And thus, he created his second technique as a Martial Sage.
“Evolutionary Divergence.”
